Fox Hollow Golf Course located at 13410 West Morrison Road in Lakewood is one of my favorite courses in the metro area. It is reasonably priced at $40.00, if you are a resident of Lakewood, but of course that is if you walk the course. After the first hole on the Canyon course, the walk is pretty easy and the Meadows course is a breeze to walk. The Links is a little longer and has a couple of up hill holes, but is still doable, if you are in relatively good shape.
Fox Hollow has three nine hole courses, the Meadows, the Canyon and the Links. Many times if you play 18 holes, you'll be lucky and get to play the Canyon and Meadows. When you play that combination, it's like playing two different courses. The Canyon has only one par 5, but also has their signature hole, which is No. 5. You need to lay up on that hole to a landing area approximately 215 yards out (depending on your tee box) and then hit another shot approximately 175 yards to the green over a large canyon. It can be intimidating until you do it a couple of times. The Meadows is flatter and winds around lakes and rivers and is quite enjoyable. The Links is probably my least favorite, but still has quite a few interesting holes. It just plays longer than the Canyon or Meadows, but is still fun.
I think Fox Hollow is one of the nicest courses for woman golfers. From the foward tees or the white tees, you still have to cross ditches or canyons on most of the holes with your tee shots. But the carries are reasonable, so they just make it challenging. Also the staff at Fox Hollow treats women very well, which is not always the case at other public courses. They have a good restaurant and the cart girls cross your path several times per nine.
